Where in New Zealand do you plan proposals?
The Perfect Moment is based in Auckland and creates proposal experiences throughout New Zealand.
We regularly plan and capture proposals across Auckland and Waiheke Island, with destination proposal experiences also available in Queenstown and other locations throughout New Zealand.
If you have a particular destination in mind, tell us where you’re planning to propose and we’ll explore what’s possible.
Can you help me choose the perfect proposal location?
Absolutely — you don’t need to know where you want to propose before getting in touch.
Once your proposal planning is booked, we can help explore suitable locations based on the experience you want to create, your partner’s personality, privacy preferences, accessibility, time of year and overall vision.
Whether you’re imagining a secluded beach, vineyard, private venue, mountain view or something completely different, finding the right setting can all be part of the planning process.
What if I have no idea how I want to propose?
That’s completely fine — and one of the biggest reasons The Perfect Moment exists.
You don’t need to arrive with a Pinterest board and a complete plan. Tell us about your partner, your relationship, what they love and anything you know they definitely would — or wouldn’t — enjoy.
From there, we can help shape an experience that feels thoughtful, personal and right for the two of you.
Can I plan my New Zealand proposal from overseas?
Absolutely. We work with clients travelling to New Zealand who want to plan their proposal before they arrive.
Planning can be coordinated remotely, including location guidance, suppliers, styling, photography, videography and your proposal timeline.
Before the day, you’ll know exactly where you need to go, when to arrive and what to expect — while we take care of what’s happening behind the scenes here in New Zealand.
How far in advance should I book my proposal?
The earlier you get in touch, the more options we’ll generally have for locations, suppliers and dates — particularly for weekends, peak travel periods, private venues and helicopter experiences.
However, we know proposals don’t always come with months of notice!
If your date is approaching quickly, get in touch anyway. If we have availability, we’ll let you know what can realistically be arranged within the timeframe.
Will my partner see the photographer?
Keeping the surprise intact is one of the most important parts of proposal photography.
Before your proposal, we’ll plan where you need to be and where your photographer will position themselves based on the location and how the moment will unfold.
The aim is for your partner to remain completely unaware that the proposal is being professionally captured until after they’ve said YES.
What happens if the weather is bad?
New Zealand weather can be unpredictable, so weather is always something we keep in mind when planning outdoor proposals.
As your proposal approaches, we’ll monitor the conditions and discuss the best options if the forecast isn’t looking favourable.
Depending on your location, suppliers and chosen experience, this could mean adjusting the timing, using a backup plan or discussing whether rescheduling is possible.
We’ll always work with you to make the best decision for your particular proposal.
Is professional photography included?
Professional proposal photography is included in our proposal experiences unless otherwise stated.
Your photographer will discreetly capture the proposal as it happens, followed by a relaxed couples session after the YES so you have beautiful photographs from your first moments together as fiancés.
Your exact photography coverage and inclusions will be outlined in your chosen proposal experience.
Can you film my proposal too?
Yes! Highlight videography can be added to selected proposal experiences.
While photographs beautifully freeze the moment, video captures the movement, reactions and emotion that allow you to experience it all over again.
Your proposal film is captured as discreetly as possible alongside your photography so the moment remains natural and uninterrupted.

Can you style and set up my proposal?
Yes. Styling is included in selected proposal experiences and can also be added to bespoke proposals depending on the location and your vision.
This can include elements such as florals, candles, romantic setups and personalised details, with our team taking care of the setup before you arrive.
If styling isn’t your partner’s thing, that’s completely fine too. Some of the most beautiful proposals are simply an incredible location, a meaningful plan and the two of you.
Can our family or friends be part of the proposal?
Absolutely.
Whether you want them secretly waiting nearby, arriving afterwards to celebrate or involved in the surprise itself, we can help work them into the plan.
The important part is making sure everyone knows where they need to be and when — without anyone accidentally giving away the surprise!
How much does a proposal cost?
Every proposal is different, and the final investment depends on the location, planning, styling, photography, videography, suppliers and experiences involved.
We offer a selection of proposal experiences as a starting point, as well as completely bespoke proposal planning for those wanting something different.
For destination proposals, private venues and helicopter experiences, pricing may vary depending on travel, suppliers and location.
When will we receive our proposal photos?
We know you’ll be excited to relive the moment!
A selection of sneak peeks is typically delivered within 12–24 hours, so you have beautiful images ready to share the exciting news with family and friends.
Your full professionally edited proposal gallery is typically delivered within approximately two weeks.
If you’ve added a highlight film, your videography delivery timeframe will be confirmed as part of your proposal experience.
What happens after I enquire?
Once we receive your enquiry, we’ll review your preferred date, destination and what you’re hoping to create.
We’ll then get back to you with the best next steps and suitable proposal experience based on the information you’ve provided.
Once your booking is confirmed, the detailed planning begins — from locations and logistics to suppliers, styling and your proposal timeline.
Then we keep the secret and count down to the big day!
How do I start planning my proposal?
Simply send us an enquiry and tell us a little about the two of you.
Include your preferred proposal date, where in New Zealand you’ll be and anything you already have in mind. If you don’t know the location or exactly what you want yet, that’s completely fine.
We’ll help you take it from there.
